Chapter 1

The rain crashed down on the fleeting figure, soaking them down to their bones. Even the thickest long sleeve sweatshirt was powerless in the torrent of rain and not many people were out and about. The few who braved the tumultuous weather were decked out in layers and layers of rain-suited clothing, their only weapon against the rain being an umbrella hanging millimeters above their heads.

A/N: Hi everyone! No, this is not a new chapter (however it will appear in a later chapter :D) but another Extra. Why is there no new chapter? Well that's because life caught up to me… or maybe I should say life caught up to Cai-chan. She's been pretty busy as of late and hasn't gotten around to finishing her BETA of the next chapter. And since I didn't want to leave you hanging for too long, I found something from my collection of future chapter segments to show you. "Oi, oi! Stop crying," Kudo Shinichi pleaded looking over at his childhood friend, Mouri Ran.

"How can you be so calm?!" Ran exclaimed, attempting to wipe her eyes free of the tears.

Shinichi threw his hands behind his head as he replied nonchalantly, "I've been to many of these types of scenes and so I'm used to them."

"How terrible!" Ran retorted, hiding her eyes with her hands.

Shinichi leaned over slightly, "You'd better forget it. Get used to it... this kind of thing happens all the time."

"No they don't!" Ran exclaimed, tears falling once again.

Suddenly, Shinichi noticed a figure dressed all in black run past,
